Cryptshare 2.6 Released

Now with MS Outlook integration: Cryptshare 2.6 – easier to administer and easier to use!   Feedbacks from our many current and potential users help us to improve Cryptshare in meeting additional user requirements. Feedbacks from our many current and potential users help us to improve Cryptshare in meeting additional user requirements. You will find a number of new features in the version 2.6. The highlights are described below. A complete list is in the change log of the installation kit.

Feedback from our customers has helped us improve Cryptshare in meeting some additional user requirements.  You will find a number of new features in version 2.6 as described below.  A complete list is available in the “change log” of the installation kit.

Cryptshare now offers integration into MS Outlook 2007 and 2010 (32bit). From now on you can purchase "Cryptshare for Outlook" as an add-on product to your existing Cryptshare system and allow users to send large files or even encrypted e-mails directly out of their MS Outlook Client. Contact your Cryptshare reseller for more information.

Update Information

Please note the following important information when updating from a previous version of Cryptshare to version 2.6:

  1. Update procedure
    Update your Cryptshare System first and then upload your new license key immediately, using the Cryptshare Admin Web interface.

    If you have a Cryptshare Virtual Appliance or Cryptshare Hardware Appliance, the Administrator configured in the system will be notified via e-mail about the update procdure. Please follow the instructions in that e-mail.

    If you have a Cryptshare Server installation, please contact your reseller who can provide you with the install routines of the new version.

  2. New License Key Files
    With version 2.6, the structure of the license key files has changed. The key files are no longer bound to a specific version of Cryptshare and no longer need to be replaced with every update of the software. Instead they now contain information about the licensed Cryptshare products including their license and subscription terms.
    This information can be viewed in the Cryptshare admin interface.

    Important! Due to this change in the license key structure it is required to use a new license key to run Cryptshare 2.6. It is not possible to run Cryptshare 2.6 with an older license key file. After you have upgraded to Cryptshare 2.6, only the admin web interface of Cryptshare is accessible. You can install the new license key using this interface. Only after you have performed this step will the user interface of Cryptshare be available.

  3. Language Packs
    The English and German language packs are part of the system by default and will be upgraded automatically. If you have additional language packs installed on your Cryptshare system, these will not be taken over by the upgrade process. However you can download language packs from our web site and implement them very easy using the new web admin interface of Cryptshare.

Improved Capabilities for Administrators

  1. Defining System Usage Terms
    You can now define Usage Terms for your Cryptshare System and store them in Admin Web Interface. Users who access your Cryptshare System for the first time will have to accept these usage terms before they can transfer any files.

  2. Installing Language Packs
    Language Packs can now be installed very easily using the Admin Web Interface of Cryptshare. Language Packs for English and German are pre-installed when you set up Cryptshare. Additional Language Packs can be downloaded for free from our web site www.cryptshare.com and can be uploaded into your Cryptshare System.

  3. Improved Logging
    In the area of logging and traceability, we have made the following improvements to Cryptshare:
    • The default sort order of log entries in the Admin Web Interface has been changed. Log entries are now sorted by default from new to old. The sort order can be changed.
    • The Cryptshare log will now show if a transfer has been performed using the web interface or using one of the add-on products "Cryptshare for Outlook", "Cryptshare for Notes" or "Cryptshare Robot"

  4. Easy and cost-free customization of the frontend design
    In the support area of our web site www.cryptshare.com our new User Interface Designer ("UI Designer") is now available to you for free. Using the UI Designer, you can customize the appearance of your Cryptshare frontend at any time. The UI Designer offers a preview function, so you can see the impact of selected colours and imported logos immediately. When the design meets your requirements, you can download a UI Design Package (previously: "CI Package") and apply it to your Cryptshare System using the Admin Web Interface. This service is available to all Cryptshare customers for free.

  5. Creating default policies
    Creating default policies for all of your licensed domains is simply one click of your mouse away. If you do so, Cryptshare will automatically create a default rule set for each domain listed in the license key file. The rule set allows sending from all members of this domain to any external recipient and receiving from any external sender by all members of the domain.This is very useful if the name of one of more of the licensed domains changes, especially for clients who have a large number of domains licensed.

  6. Admin notification at the end of the license or subscription term
    The administrator will now be notified by the system when the license or subscription term of one of the licensed products is approaching the end date.

Improved Usability

The notification messages to the recipient now contain the sender's e-mail address as the reply-to address. This way it is easier to respond to the sender of a transfer and there is less risk that the recipient will send his response to the administrator of the Cryptshare system unintended.
