About us

Cryptshare is a software product owned by Befine Solutions AG, based in the southern German city of Freiburg Im Breisgau in the beautiful Black Forest region.  Befine Solutions was formed in 2001 as Software AG, tasked with specialist software development tasks on behalf of large clients of sister company IT Connect.  Through the early years up to 2006 a number of solutions developed for one client with modest changes could be applied to others with simple customization allowing the talented team of developers to learn the requirements of customers for re-usable, stable, scalable and effective software solutions and during this time the name of the company was changed to Befine Solutions AG.

Cryptshare V1.0 was coded in 2006 and shipped to the first customer in 2007 almost immediately causing a number of requests to use the same code.  The problems of large file exchange were quickly identified as a universal problem in large and small companies alike and so a product roadmap was defined to provide the additional features requested by this fast growing group of customers; features such as strong encryption, frequent updating, an improved user interface, enhanced management and configuration tools and the ability to communicate with other applications via a simple API.

Since 2007 the number of customers has gown steadily however it was only in 2010 that a sales team was created and distributors were appointed allowing sales to accelerate fast and investment in the team expanded to allow specialized development of the roadmap, technical support and dedicated product management.

Befine Solutions AG is privately owned and funded, during 2010 significant external investment in the company providing further capacity to invest in the business and introduced some senior leadership to help with the task of building the company into markets outside the home market of Germany.  2011 has seen the addition of customers in 20 countries including the USA, Holland, Sweden, and the UK and the addition of Cryptshare versions for IBM’s Lotus Notes and for Microsoft Outlook bringing the considerable benefits of Cryptshare to a wider community.
